7/22 – 9/24 Standing In-Between the Lines of Nichole Burton

SLG is proud to present a new solo exhibit, “Standing In-Between the Lines of Nichole Burton” starting in July!

Columbus, Ohio native, Nichole “Nicki” Burton, is a self-taught artist and designer who has turned her passion for drawing and painting into an enterprise. At the tender age of five, Burton began her journey of cultivating an aesthetic for color sequences and constructing textures that would later form into Kincs By Nicki. From hand painted jewelry to clothing, Burton’s creative instinct, combined with cultural relevance, has propelled Kincs By Nicki to create signature wearable art that is far from ordinary. Preserving Burton’s belief that each piece should be a one-of-a-kind work of art, she intentionally ensures that no one hand-painted piece is the same. Manifested in the form of dreams, Burton’s creative process for any new design comes to life.

Over the course of her successful 20+ year career, Burton has collaborated with designers, photographers, stylists, make-up artists and activists to highlight, enlighten and educate the significance and relevance of African-American art. For Burton, the cultural significance and imaginative representation of Columbus, OH makes a bold statement throughout her work. “Everything I create is intentional and meaningful to the entire collection (Kincs By Nicki). There is no pencil or stencil outline because art should be appreciated, not discarded in a basement or lost in a jewelry box.”
