6/18 Concert: 7 VILLAGES

Scott Woods presents, in partnership with the Johnstone Fund for New Music, 7 VILLAGES on June 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Short North Stage. Admission is free.

An exploration of drum-centered solos and duets, 7 VILLAGES features seven new and original multidisciplinary compositions of music, vocals, dance, and poetry. Each piece is a duet with drums
bookended by drum solos, in keeping with various African traditions. The narrative of 7 VILLAGES represents a musical interrogation of six Black Columbus neighborhoods:
Linden, Mt. Vernon, Driving Park, Flytown, Franklin Park, and Bronzeville. The seventh town is Galveston (Texas), in honor of the Juneteenth holiday on June 19.
